Medium technical severity with no CISA KEV confirmation; remediate through the normal risk-based patch cycle unless local exposure raises the priority.
These OSV and GitHub advisory ranges apply only to the named package and ecosystem. A listed fixed version is not a universal product patch or proof that an update is installed.

Patch availableTrix is a what-you-see-is-what-you-get rich text editor for everyday writing. Prior to 2.1.17, Trix is vulnerable to cross-site scripting when a data-trix-serialized-attributes attribute bypasses the DOMPurify sanitizer. An attacker can craft HTML containing a data-trix-serialized-attributes attribute with a malicious payload that, when rendered, executes arbitrary JavaScript in the user's session and may perform unauthorized actions or disclose sensitive information. This issue is fixed in version 2.1.17.

Attacker-controlled content can reach a browser as executable script without sufficient output encoding or sanitisation.
An attacker operating through a network path may attempt exploitation with low privileges. If successful, the issue may obtain information outside the intended access boundary.

CVSS severity, EPSS forecast probability, public exploit material and CISA-confirmed exploitation are separate signals.
No CISA KEV match was present at the last successful refresh. This means no confirmation from that source, not proof of no exploitation.
No exploit-tagged reference or CISA SSVC proof-of-concept state is currently recorded. Research may still exist outside the structured feeds.
CWE-79: Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation ('Cross-site Scripting'). The product does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes user-controllable input before it is placed in output that is used as a web page that is served to other users.
