Evidence used

  • No CISA KEV confirmation is currently recorded.
  • The selected CVSS metric records a network-reachable, unauthenticated path with no user interaction.
  • EPSS is 0.80% for the current model date.

Compensating controls

  • Validate the affected product branch and deploy the verified fixed release.
  • Restrict the affected network interface to trusted sources where business-safe.
  • Monitor vendor guidance and exploitation sources for a material change.

Verification

  1. Confirm that the asset runs Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) EdgeConnect SD-WAN Orchestrator and falls inside the recorded affected range.
  2. Verify the installed build against the product-specific fixed version after deployment.
  3. Validate exposure, authentication requirements and compensating controls in the actual environment.
  4. Reopen this reassessment when CVSS, KEV, EPSS, exploit evidence or remediation changes.

  • EdgeConnect SD-WAN Orchestrator
Summary
Multiple vulnerabilities in the REST API interface of HPE Networking SD-WAN Orchestrator could allow an unauthenticated remote attacker to bypass web authentication mechanisms and access system functions. Successful exploitation could allow an attacker to view and modify potentially sensitive information on the target system.
Remediation
In order to address the vulnerabilities described above for the affected software branches, HPE Aruba Networking recommends upgrading the software to one of the following versions (as applicable): - SD-WAN Orchestrator 9.7.0.x: 9.7.0.43264 and above - SD-WAN Orchestrator 9.6.3.x: 9.6.3.40140 and above - SD-WAN Orchestrator 9.6.2.x: 9.6.2.40210 and above Software versions with resolution/fixes for the vulnerabilities covered above, can be downloaded from the HPE Networking Support Portal. https://networkingsupport.hpe.com/home/ Product software versions that have reached End of Maintenance (EoM) are presumed to be affected by the vulnerabilities unless explicitly stated otherwise, and are not covered by this security advisory. HPE Aruba Networking does not evaluate or patch software branches that have reached their End of Support (EoST) milestone. What, why and how

What

Multiple vulnerabilities in the REST API interface of HPE Networking SD-WAN Orchestrator could allow an unauthenticated remote attacker to bypass web authentication mechanisms and access system functions. Successful exploitation could allow an attacker to view and modify potentially sensitive information on the target system.

Why

The affected component does not establish the requesting party's identity reliably before granting access.

How

An attacker operating through a network path may attempt exploitation without authentication or user interaction. If successful, the issue may obtain information outside the intended access boundary.

02

Exploit reality and attack path

CVSS severity, EPSS forecast probability, public exploit material and CISA-confirmed exploitation are separate signals.

Observed exploitation
?Confirmed exploitation and public exploit material are separate signals. Attacks can occur without public proof-of-concept or exploit code.
No confirmed evidence

No CISA KEV match was present at the last successful refresh. This means no confirmation from that source, not proof of no exploitation.

Public PoC / exploit material
?Confirmed exploitation and public exploit material are separate signals. Attacks can occur without public proof-of-concept or exploit code.
None recorded

No exploit-tagged reference or CISA SSVC proof-of-concept state is currently recorded. Research may still exist outside the structured feeds.

Weakness
?CWE means Common Weakness Enumeration: a standard category for the underlying weakness.

CWE-287: Improper Authentication. When an actor claims to have a given identity, the product does not prove or insufficiently proves that the claim is correct.
