Patch availablemport is the MidnightBSD Package Manager. Prior to 2.7.8, the mport_fetch_bootstrap_index() function in libmport/fetch.c could return success when bootstrap index hash verification encountered a missing or invalid hash because the failure path did not preserve a fatal result. A network attacker or compromised mirror able to alter bootstrap index content or its transport path could therefore cause mport to proceed with an unverified or tampered bootstrap package index. This issue is fixed in version 2.7.8.

The product does not sufficiently verify the origin or authenticity of data, in a way that causes it to accept invalid data.
An attacker operating through a network path may attempt exploitation without authentication or user interaction. If successful, the issue may cause the confidentiality, integrity or availability impact described by the vendor.

CVSS severity, EPSS forecast probability, public exploit material and CISA-confirmed exploitation are separate signals.
No CISA KEV match was present at the last successful refresh. This means no confirmation from that source, not proof of no exploitation.
No exploit-tagged reference or CISA SSVC proof-of-concept state is currently recorded. Research may still exist outside the structured feeds.
