Medium technical severity with no CISA KEV confirmation; remediate through the normal risk-based patch cycle unless local exposure raises the priority.

Fix not verifiedvantage6 is an open-source infrastructure for privacy preserving analysis. Versions prior to 5.0.0 provide an initial user with username `root` and password `root`. This is not ideal because attackers know that almost all vantage6 servers have a user with username `root` that probably has admin rights, and the initial password is very weak and it is possible that administrators forget to reset it. Version 5.0.0 fixes the issue. As a workaround, it is possible to delete the `root` user after it has been used to create other users.

The product provides different responses to incoming requests in a way that reveals internal state information to an unauthorized actor outside of the intended control sphere.
An attacker operating through a network path may attempt exploitation without authentication or user interaction. If successful, the issue may cause the confidentiality, integrity or availability impact described by the vendor.

CVSS severity, EPSS forecast probability, public exploit material and CISA-confirmed exploitation are separate signals.
No CISA KEV match was present at the last successful refresh. This means no confirmation from that source, not proof of no exploitation.
No exploit-tagged reference or CISA SSVC proof-of-concept state is currently recorded. Research may still exist outside the structured feeds.
CWE-204: Observable Response Discrepancy. The product provides different responses to incoming requests in a way that reveals internal state information to an unauthorized actor outside of the intended control sphere.
