Evidence used

  • No CISA KEV confirmation is currently recorded.
  • A structured source references public exploit or proof-of-concept material.
  • EPSS is 0.44% for the current model date.

Compensating controls

  • Restrict the affected network interface to trusted sources where business-safe.
  • Increase monitoring for the attack path and post-exploitation behaviour described in the report.

Verification

  1. Confirm that the asset runs shaarli Shaarli and falls inside the recorded affected range.
  2. Recheck the vendor advisory before scheduling a change because no verified fixed version is currently retained.
  3. Validate exposure, authentication requirements and compensating controls in the actual environment.
  4. Reopen this reassessment when CVSS, KEV, EPSS, exploit evidence or remediation changes.

This automated reassessment organises public evidence. It does not know asset exposure, business impact or control effectiveness and does not replace CVSS or a human risk decision.

Shaarli is a personal bookmarking service. Versions prior to 0.16.3 are vulnerable to stored XSS in `application/front/controller/visitor/BookmarkListController.php`. The `permalink` handler concatenates the raw `$bookmark->getTitle()` into the `pagetitle` template variable and the RainTPL template emits it into the document `<title>` element without HTML escaping. A bookmark title containing `</title><script>...</script>` closes the document title early and the injected script executes in the Shaarli origin for any visitor of `/shaare/{hash}`. Shaarli's metadata fetcher copies a remote page's `<title>` text verbatim into the local bookmark title, so an attacker who hosts an attacker-controlled URL and convinces an administrator to bookmark it plants the payload with no further interaction — and the resulting permalink fires for every visitor including the administrator on first save, providing a one-shot administrator account takeover. Version 0.16.3 fixes the issue.

Version 0.16.3 fixes the issue.

Why

Attacker-controlled content can reach a browser as executable script without sufficient output encoding or sanitisation.

How

An attacker operating through a network path may attempt exploitation when the stated preconditions are met. If successful, the issue may bypass an access boundary or take over an account.

Exploit reality and attack path

CVSS severity, EPSS forecast probability, public exploit material and CISA-confirmed exploitation are separate signals.

Observed exploitation
?Confirmed exploitation and public exploit material are separate signals. Attacks can occur without public proof-of-concept or exploit code.
No confirmed evidence

No CISA KEV match was present at the last successful refresh. This means no confirmation from that source, not proof of no exploitation.

Public PoC / exploit material
?Confirmed exploitation and public exploit material are separate signals. Attacks can occur without public proof-of-concept or exploit code.
Reference recorded

CISA Vulnrichment records proof-of-concept exploitation in its SSVC data. BlackTree has not independently executed or validated exploit material.
