Evidence used
- No CISA KEV confirmation is currently recorded.
- The selected CVSS metric records a network-reachable, unauthenticated path with no user interaction.
- EPSS is 0.39% for the current model date.

Fix not verifiedMastodon is a free, open-source social network server based on ActivityPub. Prior to 4.5.10, 4.4.17, and 4.3.23, when using Ruby versions older than 3.4, PrivateAddressCheck.private_address? returns false for IPv4-mapped IPv6 addresses (::ffff:a.b.c.d) corresponding to some private IPv4 addresses, depending on Ruby version, this can include loopback, RFC1918 private networks, and link-local space. An attacker who controls DNS for any domain can publish an AAAA record with such a mapped address; any outbound HTTP fetch Mastodon performs against that hostname then opens a real TCP connection to the underlying IPv4 address, including 127.0.0.1 and cloud-metadata endpoints such as 169.254.169.254. This vulnerability is fixed in 4.5.10, 4.4.17, and 4.3.23.

The product implements a protection mechanism that relies on a list of inputs (or properties of inputs) that are not allowed by policy or otherwise require other action to neutralize before additional processing takes place, but the list is incomplete.
An attacker operating through a network path may attempt exploitation without authentication or user interaction. If successful, the issue may cause the confidentiality, integrity or availability impact described by the vendor.

CVSS severity, EPSS forecast probability, public exploit material and CISA-confirmed exploitation are separate signals.
No CISA KEV match was present at the last successful refresh. This means no confirmation from that source, not proof of no exploitation.
No exploit-tagged reference or CISA SSVC proof-of-concept state is currently recorded. Research may still exist outside the structured feeds.
CWE-184: Incomplete List of Disallowed Inputs. The product implements a protection mechanism that relies on a list of inputs (or properties of inputs) that are not allowed by policy or otherwise require other action to neutralize before additional processing takes place, but the list is incomplete.
