Official source article: GitHub GHSA-PH87-CC3J-C6HM ↗. Check the applicable product and release in the original source.
Low technical severity with no CISA KEV confirmation; remediate through the normal risk-based patch cycle unless local exposure raises the priority.
Debian, ubuntu findings are scoped to the named distribution, release and source package. An absent finding does not mean a package is unaffected.
A published vendor fix does not prove that a matching update is enabled and installable on a particular asset. Confirm the local package candidate before scheduling remediation.

Fix not verifiedlibgphoto2 is a camera access and control library. In versions up to and including 2.5.33, a missing null terminator exists in ptp_unpack_Canon_FE() in camlibs/ptp2/ptp-pack.c (line 1377). The function copies a filename into a 13-byte buffer using strncpy without explicitly null-terminating the result. If the source data is exactly 13 bytes with no null terminator, the buffer is left unterminated, leading to out-of-bounds reads in any subsequent string operation. Commit 259fc7d3bfe534ce4b114c464f55b448670ab873 patches the issue.

The product does not terminate or incorrectly terminates a string or array with a null character or equivalent terminator.
An attacker operating through physical access may attempt exploitation without authentication or user interaction. If successful, the issue may cause the confidentiality, integrity or availability impact described by the vendor.

CVSS severity, EPSS forecast probability, public exploit material and CISA-confirmed exploitation are separate signals.
No CISA KEV match was present at the last successful refresh. This means no confirmation from that source, not proof of no exploitation.
No exploit-tagged reference or CISA SSVC proof-of-concept state is currently recorded. Research may still exist outside the structured feeds.
CWE-170: Improper Null Termination. The product does not terminate or incorrectly terminates a string or array with a null character or equivalent terminator.
