Evidence used
- No CISA KEV confirmation is currently recorded.
- Exploitation requires an existing local or physical foothold with privileges.
- EPSS is 0.17% for the current model date.

Low technical severity with no CISA KEV confirmation; remediate through the normal risk-based patch cycle unless local exposure raises the priority.
Debian findings are scoped to the named distribution, release and source package. An absent finding does not mean a package is unaffected.
A published vendor fix does not prove that a matching update is enabled and installable on a particular asset. Confirm the local package candidate before scheduling remediation.

Fix not verifiedA flaw was found in libinput. An attacker capable of deploying a Lua plugin file in specific system directories can exploit a dangling pointer vulnerability. This occurs when a garbage collection cleanup function is called, leaving a pointer that can then be printed to system logs. This could potentially expose sensitive data if the memory location is re-used, leading to information disclosure. For this exploit to work, Lua plugins must be enabled in libinput and loaded by the compositor.

The product dereferences a pointer that contains a location for memory that was previously valid, but is no longer valid.
An attacker operating through local access may attempt exploitation with low privileges. If successful, the issue may obtain information outside the intended access boundary.

CVSS severity, EPSS forecast probability, public exploit material and CISA-confirmed exploitation are separate signals.
No CISA KEV match was present at the last successful refresh. This means no confirmation from that source, not proof of no exploitation.
No exploit-tagged reference or CISA SSVC proof-of-concept state is currently recorded. Research may still exist outside the structured feeds.
CWE-825: Expired Pointer Dereference. The product dereferences a pointer that contains a location for memory that was previously valid, but is no longer valid.
