Medium technical severity with no CISA KEV confirmation; remediate through the normal risk-based patch cycle unless local exposure raises the priority.

Patch availableParse Server is an open source backend that can be deployed to any infrastructure that can run Node.js. Prior to 9.6.0-alpha.4 and 8.6.30, an attacker can upload a file with a file extension or content type that is not blocked by the default configuration of the Parse Server fileUpload.fileExtensions option. The file can contain malicious code, for example JavaScript in an SVG or XHTML file. When the file is accessed via its URL, the browser renders the file and executes the malicious code in the context of the Parse Server domain. This is a stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability that can be exploited to steal session tokens, redirect users, or perform actions on behalf of other users. Affected file extensions and content types include .svgz, .xht, .xml, .xsl, .xslt, and content types application/xhtml+xml and application/xslt+xml for extensionless uploads. Uploading of .html, .htm, .shtml, .xhtml, and .svg files was already blocked. This vulnerability is fixed in 9.6.0-alpha.4 and 8.6.30.

Attacker-controlled content can reach a browser as executable script without sufficient output encoding or sanitisation.
An attacker operating through a network path may attempt exploitation when the stated preconditions are met. If successful, the issue may cause the confidentiality, integrity or availability impact described by the vendor.

CVSS severity, EPSS forecast probability, public exploit material and CISA-confirmed exploitation are separate signals.
No CISA KEV match was present at the last successful refresh. This means no confirmation from that source, not proof of no exploitation.
No exploit-tagged reference or CISA SSVC proof-of-concept state is currently recorded. Research may still exist outside the structured feeds.
CWE-79: Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation ('Cross-site Scripting'). The product does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes user-controllable input before it is placed in output that is used as a web page that is served to other users.
