Evidence used

  • No CISA KEV confirmation is currently recorded.
  • EPSS is 0.26% for the current model date.

Compensating controls

  • Validate the affected product branch and deploy the verified fixed release.
  • Restrict local access and enforce least privilege on affected hosts.
  • Monitor vendor guidance and exploitation sources for a material change.

Verification

  1. Confirm that the asset runs Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) Fabric Composer and falls inside the recorded affected range.
  2. Verify the installed build against the product-specific fixed version after deployment.
  3. Validate exposure, authentication requirements and compensating controls in the actual environment.
  4. Reopen this reassessment when CVSS, KEV, EPSS, exploit evidence or remediation changes.

  • HPE Networking Fabric Composer
Summary
An authentication bypass vulnerability exists in the underlying operating system of HPE Networking Fabric Composer. Successful exploitation could allow an unauthenticated adjacent attacker to execute arbitrary code as a privileged user on the underlying operating system, leading to complete compromise of the AFC host.
Remediation
To resolve all the vulnerabilities in the affected software branches that are addressed through this advisory, HPE Networking strongly recommends upgrading the HPE Networking Fabric Composer software to one of the following versions (as applicable): - HPE Networking Fabric Composer 7.4.x: 7.4.0 and above - HPE Networking Fabric Composer 7.3.x: 7.3.4 and above Software versions with resolution/fixes for the vulnerabilities in this advisory can be downloaded from the HPE Networking Support Portal at https://networkingsupport.hpe.com/home/. Product software versions that have reached End of Maintenance (EoM) are presumed to be affected by the vulnerabilities unless explicitly stated otherwise, and are not covered by this security advisory. HPE Networking does not evaluate or patch software branches that have reached their End of Support (EoS) milestone.

01

What, why and how

An authentication bypass vulnerability exists in the underlying operating system of HPE Networking Fabric Composer. Successful exploitation could allow an unauthenticated adjacent attacker to execute arbitrary code as a privileged user on the underlying operating system, leading to complete compromise of the AFC host.

What

An authentication bypass vulnerability exists in the underlying operating system of HPE Networking Fabric Composer. Successful exploitation could allow an unauthenticated adjacent attacker to execute arbitrary code as a privileged user on the underlying operating system, leading to complete compromise of the AFC host.

Why

The affected component does not establish the requesting party's identity reliably before granting access.

How

An attacker operating through an adjacent network may attempt exploitation without authentication or user interaction. If successful, the issue may execute code or commands in the affected security context.

Exploit reality and attack path

CVSS severity, EPSS forecast probability, public exploit material and CISA-confirmed exploitation are separate signals.

Observed exploitation
?Confirmed exploitation and public exploit material are separate signals. Attacks can occur without public proof-of-concept or exploit code.
No confirmed evidence

No CISA KEV match was present at the last successful refresh. This means no confirmation from that source, not proof of no exploitation.

Public PoC / exploit material
?Confirmed exploitation and public exploit material are separate signals. Attacks can occur without public proof-of-concept or exploit code.
None recorded

No exploit-tagged reference or CISA SSVC proof-of-concept state is currently recorded. Research may still exist outside the structured feeds.

CWE-287: Improper Authentication. When an actor claims to have a given identity, the product does not prove or insufficiently proves that the claim is correct.
