Fix not verifiedA stored cross-site scripting vulnerability was identified in GitHub Enterprise Server that allowed an authenticated attacker to execute arbitrary JavaScript in another user's browser by injecting a crafted payload into the title of a Discussion in the Q&A category. The AnsweredQuestionStructuredDataComponent did not escape user-controlled Discussion titles before embedding them in a <script type="application/ld+json"> block, allowing the title to break out of the script context. The injection was escalated to a full cross-site scripting attack on GitHub Enterprise Server by leveraging JSONP callback support in the REST API to bypass the Content Security Policy. This vulnerability affected all versions of GitHub Enterprise Server prior to 3.21 and was fixed in versions 3.20.4, 3.19.8, 3.18.11, 3.17.17, 3.16.20. This vulnerability was reported via the GitHub Bug Bounty program.

Attacker-controlled content can reach a browser as executable script without sufficient output encoding or sanitisation.
An attacker operating through a network path may attempt exploitation with low privileges. If successful, the issue may cause the confidentiality, integrity or availability impact described by the vendor.

CVSS severity, EPSS forecast probability, public exploit material and CISA-confirmed exploitation are separate signals.
No CISA KEV match was present at the last successful refresh. This means no confirmation from that source, not proof of no exploitation.
No exploit-tagged reference or CISA SSVC proof-of-concept state is currently recorded. Research may still exist outside the structured feeds.
CWE-79: Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation ('Cross-site Scripting'). The product does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes user-controllable input before it is placed in output that is used as a web page that is served to other users.

Linked articles are downloaded and versioned as source evidence. A CVE mention or approved update relationship does not, by itself, verify a fix for every product branch.
