Evidence used

  • No CISA KEV confirmation is currently recorded.
  • EPSS is 0.28% for the current model date.

Compensating controls

  • Restrict the affected network interface to trusted sources where business-safe.
  • Monitor vendor guidance and exploitation sources for a material change.

Verification

  1. Confirm that the asset runs bytecodealliance wasmtime and falls inside the recorded affected range.
  2. Recheck the vendor advisory before scheduling a change because no verified fixed version is currently retained.
  3. Validate exposure, authentication requirements and compensating controls in the actual environment.
  4. Reopen this reassessment when CVSS, KEV, EPSS, exploit evidence or remediation changes.
Mitigation target: No default targetRemediation target: Normal maintenance

This automated reassessment organises public evidence. It does not know asset exposure, business impact or control effectiveness and does not replace CVSS or a human risk decision.

Summary
A flaw was found in wasmtime. Execution preemption checks during bulk operations can expose an invalid intermediate state if an application mutates or continues using the execution store after a cancellation or trap. Under these conditions, an attacker executing WebAssembly code can cause memory corruption, invalid memory access, or an application crash resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS).

No EUVD known-exploited evidence

Wasmtime is a runtime for WebAssembly. From 46.0.0 until 46.0.2 and 47.0.3, fuel and epoch preemption checks inside bulk operations including memory.copy, table.grow, and array.copy can expose invalid intermediate state when an embedder mutates a Store in Store::epoch_deadline_callback or continues using a Store after cancellation or a trap. A cancelled non-nullable table growth can leave null elements, linear-memory growth during memory.copy can invalidate retained raw pointers, and callback-triggered garbage collection during array.copy can invalidate GC pointers, resulting in a crash, invalid memory access, or GC heap corruption. Embeddings whose callbacks only access the host data in Store<T>, and embeddings that discard a Store after timeout or epoch deadline, are not affected. This issue is fixed in versions 46.0.2 and 47.0.3.

Why

The product contains a concurrent code sequence that requires temporary, exclusive access to a shared resource, but a timing window exists in which the shared resource can be modified by another code sequence operating concurrently.

How

An attacker operating through a network path may attempt exploitation with elevated privileges. If successful, the issue may disrupt the affected service.

Exploit reality and attack path

CVSS severity, EPSS forecast probability, public exploit material and CISA-confirmed exploitation are separate signals.

Observed exploitation
?Confirmed exploitation and public exploit material are separate signals. Attacks can occur without public proof-of-concept or exploit code.
No confirmed evidence

No CISA KEV match was present at the last successful refresh. This means no confirmation from that source, not proof of no exploitation.

Public PoC / exploit material
?Confirmed exploitation and public exploit material are separate signals. Attacks can occur without public proof-of-concept or exploit code.
None recorded

No exploit-tagged reference or CISA SSVC proof-of-concept state is currently recorded. Research may still exist outside the structured feeds.
