Patch availableIPFire versions prior to 2.29 (Core Update 198) contain a stored cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability that allows an authenticated attacker to inject arbitrary JavaScript code into the COUNTRY_CODE parameter when creating a location group. When a user adds a new location group, the application issues an HTTP POST request with the ACTION parameter set to savelocationgrp, and the value of the COUNTRY_CODE parameter determines the flag displayed for that group. The value of this parameter is stored and later rendered in the web interface without proper sanitization or encoding, allowing malicious scripts to be executed in the context of other users viewing the affected page.

Attacker-controlled content can reach a browser as executable script without sufficient output encoding or sanitisation.
An attacker operating through a network path may attempt exploitation with low privileges. If successful, the issue may cause the confidentiality, integrity or availability impact described by the vendor.

CVSS severity, EPSS forecast probability, public exploit material and CISA-confirmed exploitation are separate signals.
No CISA KEV match was present at the last successful refresh. This means no confirmation from that source, not proof of no exploitation.
No exploit-tagged reference or CISA SSVC proof-of-concept state is currently recorded. Research may still exist outside the structured feeds.
CWE-79: Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation ('Cross-site Scripting'). The product does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes user-controllable input before it is placed in output that is used as a web page that is served to other users.
