Patch availableSnipe-IT versions prior to 8.3.7 contain sensitive user attributes related to account privileges that are insufficiently protected against mass assignment. An authenticated, low-privileged user can craft a malicious API request to modify restricted fields of another user account, including the Super Admin account. By changing the email address of the Super Admin and triggering a password reset, an attacker can fully take over the Super Admin account, resulting in complete administrative control of the Snipe-IT instance.

The product receives input from an upstream component that specifies multiple attributes, properties, or fields that are to be initialized or updated in an object, but it does not properly control which attributes can be modified.
An attacker operating through a network path may attempt exploitation with low privileges. If successful, the issue may cause the confidentiality, integrity or availability impact described by the vendor.

CVSS severity, EPSS forecast probability, public exploit material and CISA-confirmed exploitation are separate signals.
No CISA KEV match was present at the last successful refresh. This means no confirmation from that source, not proof of no exploitation.
No exploit-tagged reference or CISA SSVC proof-of-concept state is currently recorded. Research may still exist outside the structured feeds.
CWE-915: Improperly Controlled Modification of Dynamically-Determined Object Attributes. The product receives input from an upstream component that specifies multiple attributes, properties, or fields that are to be initialized or updated in an object, but it does not properly control which attributes can be modified.
