Summary
An authentication bypass in the Palo Alto Networks PAN-OS software enables an unauthenticated attacker with network access to the management web interface to bypass the authentication otherwise required by the PAN-OS management web interface and invoke certain PHP scripts. While invoking these PHP scripts does not enable remote code execution, it can negatively impact integrity and confidentiality of PAN-OS.

What, why and how

Palo Alto Networks PAN-OS contains an authentication bypass vulnerability in its management web interface. This vulnerability allows an unauthenticated attacker with network access to the management web interface to bypass the authentication normally required and invoke certain PHP scripts.

What

Palo Alto Networks PAN-OS contains an authentication bypass vulnerability in its management web interface. This vulnerability allows an unauthenticated attacker with network access to the management web interface to bypass the authentication normally required and invoke certain PHP scripts.

Why

A security-sensitive function is reachable without the authentication check that should protect it.

How

An attacker operating through a network path may attempt exploitation without authentication or user interaction. If successful, the issue may bypass an access boundary or take over an account.

Exploit reality and attack path

CVSS severity, EPSS forecast probability, public exploit material and CISA-confirmed exploitation are separate signals.

Observed exploitation
?Confirmed exploitation and public exploit material are separate signals. Attacks can occur without public proof-of-concept or exploit code.
Confirmed in the wild

CISA added this CVE to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalogue on 2025-02-18.

Public PoC / exploit material
?Confirmed exploitation and public exploit material are separate signals. Attacks can occur without public proof-of-concept or exploit code.
Reference recorded

A structured CVE source labels at least one public reference as exploit material. BlackTree has not independently validated that it is safe, reliable or weaponised.

NCSC-NL · Dutch · NCSC-2025-0058Kwetsbaarheden verholpen in Palo Alto Networks PAN-OS
