High technical severity; prioritise exposed affected systems while verifying vendor guidance.
Debian findings are scoped to the named distribution, release and source package. An absent finding does not mean a package is unaffected.
A published vendor fix does not prove that a matching update is enabled and installable on a particular asset. Confirm the local package candidate before scheduling remediation.

Fix not verifiedAn issue was discovered in OpenNDS Captive Portal before version 10.1.2. It has a do_binauth NULL pointer dereference that be triggered with a crafted GET HTTP request with a missing User-Agent HTTP header. Triggering this issue results in crashing OpenNDS (a Denial-of-Service condition). The issue occurs when the client is about to be authenticated, and can be triggered only when the BinAuth option is set. Affected OpenNDS Captive Portal before version 10.1.2 fixed in OpenWrt master, OpenWrt 23.05 and OpenWrt 22.03 on 28. August 2023 by updating OpenNDS to version 10.1.3.

The product dereferences a pointer that it expects to be valid but is NULL.
An attacker operating through a network path may attempt exploitation without authentication or user interaction. If successful, the issue may disrupt the affected service.

CVSS severity, EPSS forecast probability, public exploit material and CISA-confirmed exploitation are separate signals.
No CISA KEV match was present at the last successful refresh. This means no confirmation from that source, not proof of no exploitation.
No exploit-tagged reference or CISA SSVC proof-of-concept state is currently recorded. Research may still exist outside the structured feeds.
